As a School Trustee the job that I do day to day is so diverse and multi-tasking.

Here are a few things;

– Helping parents and the community with questions and concerns
– Budgets
– Evaluating programs and new initiatives
– Facilities
– Human resources
– Meeting with local MLAs and the Minister of Education to discuss important issues and needs within out division
– Advocating for land and new schools
– Policy setting
– Suspensions
– Transportation

One of the most important things we deal with in education is what is happening in our classrooms.

When it comes to education, I believe we need to educate each and every child to their fullest potential. Each student learns and comprehends differently. So, we need to have programs that address the fundamentals of education – reading, writing, math, citizenship – both through individualized and group thinking and work. We need to have safe and healthy environments for students to learn in and for staff to teach in and we need to put in extra resources to help both students and staff when and where it’s needed. This all requires funds, so fiscal responsibility is also of the utmost importance. We need to balance the needs of students’ education to that of our community and what taxpayers can afford.

As a School Trustee, I support the programs that we have in our division. However, I know that in order to help students accomplish the goal of being the best they can be, we need to sometimes put more resources into helping them at different times in their educational lives.

As a Trustee, you must put the best programs forward, you need to educate each and every student to the best of their ability. You need to be fiscally responsible and balance the needs of students and taxpayers. This is what I have done each and every day in my trusteeship and hope to continue on with your support. I have worked hard to make sure that I understand and have all the pertinent information necessary to make the best decisions possible for students, parents, staff, and my community of Transcona.

I am very proud to have been part of this Board of Trustees who has put in place priorities and strategies to help students be successful.

If re-elected, I will continue to support programs and priorities that will enhance the education of our children; so that all students will achieve
their highest potential.

If re-elected, I will continue to support our taxpayers so that fiscal responsibility is being attained.

I hope that you will support me in my efforts by casting your vote in my favour.
